California Sanctuary State – coming soon
The California Senate just passed SB54 which would make the entire State a sanctuary State. If this bill passes the California House chamber and then signed by Governor Brown, it will become law.
The law says that State Government employees, and County and City employees should not cooperate with Federal US ICE agents with immigration matters, nor share information with them, including California DMV information.
There is an exception for convicted violent felons and those with a serious crime who has been deported and removed previously.
California Rep. Kevin De Leon is leading the charge to pass the bill. It is a good effort to fight the Executive branch’s overreach and negative immigration policy of scapegoating hardworking law-abiding immigrants. SB54 looks likely to pass.
