TRUMP EXECUTIVE ORDERS and OTHER CHANGES COMING TO THE IMMIGRATION LAWS
It is the dawn of a new era and we all better wake up and pay attention. President Donald J. Trump has now been sworn in as President of the United States. He began his term on January 20, 2017 issuing executive orders. It is important to remember that the United States government has three equal branches of government, which includes the US Congress and the Federal Courts. The Federal Courts have already begun to decide that portions of President Trump’s executive orders most likely violate the United States Constitution and possibly other laws. The Immigration laws still exist and established and vested legal rights cannot be taken away merely by the stroke of a pen, even if that pen belongs to the President of the United States. Only a legislative act of the United States Constitution may operate to change the immigration laws. However, the United States President does have the authority to change how certain immigration laws are applied to the public and how certain laws are implemented. Therefore, it will be up to the Courts to interpret whether these Trump executive orders are legal or illegal actions.
I will be posting immigration current events and any updates as they occur. For this reason, clients and those interested in the latest immigration developments should be checking the attorney blog section of this web-site on a regular basis. President Trump’s executive orders and Federal Court decisions will be released on an ongoing continual basis as these executive orders and changes play out in the legal system.
It is amazing to think of all the various elements at work in only the past week alone. The State of California is trying to pass a law to make the entire State a “sanctuary State” free from cooperation with US ICE. Large technology companies like Microsoft, Google (Alphabet), Apple and Uber have now taken a stand against the cruel Trump executive order that seeks to stop refugee admissions and other people from entering the United States who already have approved legal visas. A Federal judge in Seattle Washington has issued an order halting the Trump travel ban and now people can enter the United States, but for only as long as a higher court does not overturn that order banning the ban. Wow, all this happened in only one week.
Therefore, it is imperative to have the latest news and insight during the turbulent times of the Trump presidency. As always, I will advocate on behalf of the people for fair laws and equal treatment. Check the attorney blog section for up to date information.
